Things That Make Me Smile

Some things that are making me smile this morning:

M: Loves her baby sister. She loves that K loves her. She loves that K wants M to put her to bed instead of the babysitter, and that she can do it! She loves being a big helper. Also, it makes me smile that yesterday, M noticed that I cleaned and organized the junk draw and cupboard, and she was impressed by it! She is getting to be too big, too fast. It also makes me smile that it makes her totally grossed out that 2 kids in her grade got sent to the principles office for making out at recess! AHHH! Yes I had to make sure she thought that was gross! 4th grade!! Hello!!

S: He is such a great kid! It makes me smile that he got out of the car this morning, to open the door for his sister, because her hands were full...without being asked, he noticed she was going to need help and did it! I'm also smiling at the fact that he loves the Jazz, almost as much as his dad. The first thing he asked me this morning was who won the game, and was SO excited with the details of the exciting, unexpected win!

B: I love B's funny personality! She cracks us up. It makes me smile that she LOVED her skiing lessons yesterday, that her favorite part was "riding the magic carpet, but mostly all of it was her favorite." It also makes me smile that she was asleep in her "boyfriends" car within about 5 minutes after skiing. Another thing that makes me smile is that she doesn't refer to Isaac as her boyfriend anymore, but it is now, when me and Isaac are grown as big as moms and dads, we will get married.

K: I love that K knows when to give knuckles, then fives, then elbows. We do this ritual several times a day. I need to catch it on video because it really is cute! The first time of the day, is always after we get her sippy of choc-choc, and we shake it(her choc-choc) baby shake it (with a cute little dance). I then get "kuckles, bive, and elbow". She can then get down, and drink her choc-choc! The daily routine makes me smile!

It also makes me smile that we have good health and good bodies. Last night at the Jazz game, there was a sweet lady sitting in front of me who was paralyzed from the waist down. Her left hand was clenched into a fist, and it appeared that her right hand didn't have any movement in her fingers, yet she could move her arms. She was a beautiful lady, with a cute haircut, totally stylish, her makeup was great, she had darling earrings in too. I had noticed all of these facts before I realized that she was paralyzed. You could tell she was so happy to be out on a date with her husband.

As I watched her, I think more than I watched the game, I realized that I hadn't really looked forward to going to the game. I have had a cold, and R has been really sick all week. He finally started to feel better yesterday. I felt like going to the game was going to be a lot of work, it was a late game, it was going to be cold....blah, blah, blah, the list goes on. But watching this sweet lady, and her husband who loved and cared for her so much, she loved eating her pretzel (that her husband had to break off and put into her hand). She loved dipping into his nacho sauce, and stealing his jalapeƱos (that he put on her pretzel for her). She just loved being at the game. She couldn't stand and cheer, but she was into the game cheering and clapping. Every time the crowd would stand around her, her husband would stand, and hold her hand. I noticed a few times him asking if she was ok, always returned with a smile. He adjusted her legs for her a few times. By the end of the game, which was almost midnight, I could tell she was getting uncomfortable, and so was I. I was wishing for the game to end. She was still cheering and smiling. It made me realize I need to be grateful to be able to go on a date with my husband. I need to be grateful that my only problem in life is a little stuffy nose, and that I need to be grateful for my sweet family! So today, my family is making me smile!

Your kids are so cute, and I'm glad you had fun at the game. It was a very late one-Andrew was glad that he was there though. He said it was a lot of fun. Every once in a while, it's nice to be reminded of the many things that we have been blessed with.
