A record

Maybe I've turned over a new leaf! I've blogged more this month already than I have all year. Don't get used to it, however. I can't promise to keep it up....but I'll try.

We had a fun weekend. Richard and a group of friends ran a relay race in the Ogden Marathon. So we all spent the weekend in Ogden enjoying the race festivities. Richard ran just over 6 miles, I think! I can't remember! Sorry Richard. After getting 2 stress fractures in his feet last year doing a half marathon, he decided to ease into the marathon life a little bit. This was an easier race for him, which I still don't understand! He said he won't do the relay again however because it was a little too anti-climatic. So, he's ready to start training for another half marathon. He had one friend run the whole 26.2 miles of the marathon and did awesome! He finished in 3:50:06, which was 11 minutes faster than his time last year. The amazing thing about this guy, is that a few years ago, he almost had to have his foot amputated due to a soccer injury. He has no range of motion in his ankle, but he still loves to run (there is something crazy about these runners...they must be into self torture or something).
(Some of the running team) (2nd Generation running team)
For those of you who have never attended a race, it is awesome. You can't help but get hyped seeing the runners cross the finish line. Even those who collapse, or barf across the finish line are so proud of themselves! I enjoy watching---only watching---everyone finish. I always think that I'm going to go to race and be inspired to start training, but every year I leave asking "WHY?!?!?"

The kids were able to run in a Kids K, which is just less than a mile. All 3 of them ran, and had so much fun. They are ready to do it again. I guess here comes the 2nd generations of runners in the Murray Clan. Crazy! They loved getting all the free sandwiches, Creamies, Jamba Juices, water, etc. They each got a tee shirt and cow bell for finishing. Way to go you racers! I'm proud of all of you!

I'm so proud of Maddie, Sam and Brin, for making the effort to even be in race, let along run/walk the race. GREAT JOB!

What cute kids you have! I am so impressed that Rich is doing all of this running, I sure wish I had the motivation to do it too, instead I just eat :)

I didn't know, among his many other talents, that Richard was a runner. I am so jealous! I would love to have running knees. Way to go Richard. Just being in that environment sets such a great example to your kids about healthy lifestyle - great job you two!
