Heidi (my sister), and my Mom, and I all got to go to BYU to help with the service projects for the Women's Conference. We decided that we all deserved a little break, so instead of the LONG trip home, we got a hotel room and spent the night. We had a blast.
For helping, we were able to participate in the seminars for free (but don't ask us if we took advantage of this). We got to Provo later than we had hoped (scheduling mistakes on my part) but we of course had to eat, so we had a lovely lunch at McGrath's, which took a really long time so we missed the afternoon class we wanted to attend. We made it for our volunteer meeting, and then the fun began. We were helping make 700+ fleece blankets for various shelters and organizations around the state. The project was suppose to take 3+ hours, but the ladies were haulin' last night. We completed 700+ blankets in just over 2 hours. It was awesome to see so many people wanting to help. At first I didn't think we would ever make it through all of the boxes, but before I knew it, we were done. It was a really neat experience to be able to visit with ladies from around the country and find out why they were there.
After the project, there was a free concert (don't ask if we took advantage of that). We were starving (surprise surprise). We drove around for a while, checked into the hotel and then had a lovely, late dinner. Poor Heidi really wanted to go see a movie, but we pooped out on her. Sorry! We stayed up way to late talking and giggling, something that doesn't happen nearly enough.
This morning we got up, had a nice breakfast, went to the Bookstore (none of us bought anything). Walked around for a minute (don't ask if we took advantage of any of the classes today either). Stopped and got a coke for the long drive home, stopped for lunch, and came home.
It was a fabulous little get away. I'm sure many of you think we are INSANE for not going to the classes, and I'm sure we would have gotten a lot out of them. Maybe next year! Thanks to the husbands and kids for functioning with out us. When I got home R said it was such a nice relaxing day, I'm going away more often then. If we both get to relax while I'm away, why not!
Sorry, no pictures, we weren't supposed to bring any personal belongings to the service project so I didn't even think about taking a picture. Use your imagination!
Next year, Erin and Jess, you're coming too, I couldn't stop thinking about how fun it would be for ALL of us to get away together! We missed you guys.

It's always nice to get away and have a break from normal life! It definitely recharges us! I got the "day off" Thursday too and got went to the Women's Conference (for the 1st time) to meet a friend. You should have went a class (they were great!) and the concert that night was AWESOME!! 2 1/2 hours long, but loved every minute of it. I was seriously blown away! The service projects were great as well! The day just flew by! I haven't had a day that made me (myself) feel that good in a long time! Now I want to go back every year and have all my women friends and family go too!
Next year why don't you just go to the food court at the mall (Jon)- sounds about the same.
Sounds fun - I would love to go!!
We did have so much fun didn't we! I can't wait to do it again. I even like Jon's idea.
Girls weekends are the best!! I think we should make it an all girl cousin affair next year! But lets go somewhere besides Provo :)!
