Off Track

I am a HUGE fan of the Year Round program at the schools.  I honestly can say I hope to never be at a traditional school.  The only bummer is lack of summer, but we adjust.  We have been off track for the last two weeks.  It has been a fun break.  The kids get to go back tomorrow, and they are ready.

The first week we played hard, the second week, we played, but a little less official.  Here's a recap of the fun we had.

Monday: We went to Build-A-Bear.  S had a birthday a little bit ago.  We were going to have party for him, but couldn't decide what to do.  He wanted to invite all of his friends from the old and the new neighborhood.  We had something like 20 kids he wanted to invite.  I was OK with that, but then he didn't want to stay home, he wanted to go some place cool.  We tried to narrow the list down to a more control-able number but just couldn't do it.  So in place of a party, he decided it would be cool to do Build-A-Bear.  He has only gotten to got there 2 times, and every time we're at the mall he begs.  I always tell him it's  a great birthday idea, so there we went.  The kids had a great time.  They all picked out monkeys, and have had a blast playing with them.  (I have pictures of the monkeys being made, but they are on my phone, and I can't figure out where they went now that I have downloaded them to my computer).  S and B wanted to walk home from the corner, I had to run in and get the camera, how sweet is this picture!

Tuesday: We went to the "Beach" by Nana's house.  In my mom's neighborhood, they are building a little lake and have just completed a sandy beach.  It is great, there is a fun little playground and awesome sand.  The kids played for several hours, and were very offended when we had to leave so the baby could have a nap.  I'm sure many more hours will be spent at the beach.

Thursday:  We had a beautiful spring day, so we ventured out to the zoo!  It was great.  B's favorite part of the zoo was the giraffe, because it turned around and pooped for us.  She's such a sweet little girl!

Sounds like you had a great 2 weeks! I like the track breaks throughout the year too -- it spreads out the fun more! I have to find out where the "beach" is -- looks so fun!

Sounds like so much fun. And it motivates me to have a little more fun when Olivia goes off track in another week.
